Fully understanding the concerns expressed by members of the student community and their families, the Council of Rectors of Cypriot Universities would like to assure them that Cyprus’ universities are operating normally and without disruption. Their teaching and research work, as well as all their activities, are being carried out normally and in safe conditions.
The health and safety of their students and staff remains the top priority for all Cypriot universities. To this end, each academic institution is providing preventive information to its university community, with the aim of ensuring the best possible preparation for managing potential situations, taking into account the geopolitical instability in the wider region.
Nevertheless, the experience of recent days confirms that, with the necessary composure and responsibility, university life continues smoothly and there is no reason to switch to other forms of teaching.
Face-to-face teaching continues as normal and is a key element of the educational process, enhancing interaction, collaboration, and meaningful participation.
Cyprus universities have proven in the past that they can effectively manage critical situations, such as during the COVID-19 pandemic. If circumstances require it—which is not the case at present—academic institutions are ready to take the necessary decisions to ensure the smooth continuation of their mission.
With confidence in the institutions and a sense of responsibility, the universities of Cyprus continue to fulfill their role.
