The new year kicks off for VERGOS Auctions with an auction dedicated exclusively to one of the most important figures in contemporary Greek ceramics, Eleni Vernadaki. The House’s second auction for the leading ceramicist will take place online – live on Thursday, January 22, at 6:00 p.m.
The auction will be broadcasted online through www.vergosauctions.com and interested parties can participate online as well as by written and/or telephone bids.
158 ceramics, molds, and functional objects—plates, cups, and bowls—show the artist’s journey, which spans more than 60 years of creativity.
Founder of the Athens Design Center (ADC) and the Association of Contemporary Art, Eleni Vernadaki approaches ceramics as a “synthetic expression of the visual arts.” Her work has been presented in major museums and cultural organizations in Greece and abroad, most recently in a retrospective exhibition at the Benaki Museum. The artist also recently designed the medal for the 42nd Authentic Athens Marathon, transforming a children’s toy, the spinning top, into a symbol of time and endurance.
