The group exhibition Circuits and Currents, which will take place at the Athens School of Fine Arts in the city center from November 8 to 26, examines the concept of happiness in its broad political dimension.
According to Aristotelian ethics, happiness can be achieved within the constantly changing environment of the political community. It is the sum of active and rational relationships with fellow human beings and the city.
A new “sensitivity” could be born and define modern metropolises. A sensitivity that is as specific to the spirit of the place as it is to the relational network of interconnected cultural elements that are in constant flux and motion within it. In this chaotic web of connections, which defines economic zones, political zones, and landscapes of ideas, the dynamic and urban public space gives rise to utopias alongside dystopias.
Democracy, ecology, equality, the right to the city and the production of social space, citizens who are actively and consciously involved, are the necessary elements of communitarianism for the foundation and development of “lasting” happiness in urban space-time.

Dora Theodoropoulou
The desire for change within cities may be the main ingredient for the possibility of transformation. Desires give rise to conflicts, but not only that. They can define the conditions for collective and supportive coexistence in the context of social and spatial transformation.
The works in the exhibition express both utopias and dystopias, exploring the social imaginary of the city and how desire is shaped within it. For a utopian foundation and development of “lasting” happiness in urban space-time.
Margarita Kataga
Polyphony. Different voices come together to create euphoria through polyphony. A mosaic of different actions with visual artists interacting with the space in multiple ways and expressions. According to Mikhail Bakhtin: “Authentic human life is an open-ended dialogue. Life is dialectical by nature. To live means to participate in dialogue, to ask questions, to pay attention, to respond. A person participates fully in this dialogue throughout their life with their eyes, lips, hands, soul, spirit, their entire body, and their whole being.”
Dialectic rather than monologue, internal conflicts and contradictions create an intense dynamic that we hope will stimulate the viewer’s thinking, who enters into the dialogue and becomes part of it.
According to Epicurus, eudaimonia is a state of serenity and happiness that arises from the absence of pain and fear. Epicurus said, “Do not pretend to philosophize, but truly philosophize, because we do not need to think that we are healthy, but to be truly healthy.”

Kleitia Kokalari
This exhibition aims at the happiness of each individual, but also of society as a whole. Because the elimination of pain and fear helps us to resist by creating Epicurean gardens.
“Visitor, it is good to linger here…” Because the void, the breath that is missing in today’s society, is necessary to create a world where pause has a right to exist.
