PROGRAMS FOR SCHOOL GROUPS
An album, the protagonists, and the vision of an era
For students in grades 6 through 12
An enlightened Greek of the Diaspora, with a passion for collecting, devoted to the idea of giving. A bold researcher, specializing in modern Greek costume, who does not hesitate to travel to the most remote parts of Greece to record the creations of folk art. A mysterious Russian painter, specializing in the art of miniature painting. A pioneering graphic arts company, a model of development and modernization in the Greek industry of the time, with innovative practices and a goal of perfection in quality. A landmark album in interwar Athens, of “national importance” according to its creator, featuring traditional costumes from all over Greece. To rescue it from oblivion and record it in the memory of younger generations, years after its creation, the education departments of two institutions, the Historical Archive of the National Bank of Greece and the Benaki Museum, collaborated. Come and discover the facts and their connections in the educational program designed especially for the exhibition The Stories Behind the Publication of Hellenic National Costumes, hosted at the Benaki Museum of Greek Culture from October 15, 2025, to January 11, 2026.
At the end of the program, a role-playing game will help children learn about the contributors to the publication and the era in which it was produced, highlighting the different aspects and stages of its preparation.
