The Summer School took place on Oinousses Island (https://www.oinousses-municipality.gr/en/) from 14 to 20 July 2025, with the participation of university professors, representatives of institutions and students from Greece and other European countries.

In total, 23 students attended from Greece, France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, and Tajikistan.

During the Summer School, important issues concerning the present and future of the European Union were discussed. The thematic sessions addressed topics such as borders and limits in today’s Europe, the political and social challenges of the European project, the relationship between security and freedom, as well as law and the challenges the Union is facing.

The program included morning panel sessions and afternoon research workshops, which allowed participants to exchange views and collaborate creatively in order to respond to questions raised during the morning sessions.

The sessions featured distinguished academics, including Professors Panos Grigoriou, Michel Catala, Stelios Perrakis, Gerasimos Karampelias, Arnauld Leclerc, Philippe Poirier and Foteini Asderaki. At the same time, the contributions of diplomats and institutional representatives, such as Ambassador Andreas Papastavrou, Grigorios Tsioukas, Fundamental Rights Deputy Officer at Frontex and Hellenic Police Officer Andreas Karageorgos, were invaluable. Researchers and lecturers also played a key role, among them Eleftheria Ftaklaki, Marie Janot-Caminade, Flavie Barrot, Cleo Chatzidaniil, and Evangelia Vlachou.

On 19 July, an educational excursion was organized to the Heroic Island of Psara, where participants learned about the island’s history from the Mayor of Psara and experienced the unique character of the place. On the final day, 20 July, the Summer School concluded with an evaluation session and discussion of outcomes.

After the end of the Summer School, all participants received Certificates of Attendance, which also carried 3 ECTS.
