The series of events in memory of the 461 victims of the Nazi atrocity has begun, in the presence of the Mayor of Viannos, Mr. Pavlos Baritakis. Events that will culminate on September 14 with the central event on the Holocaust, which will take place at the Memorial, in the Seli of Amiras Viannos.

On September 7, a memorial service was held in Lygia for those murdered in the wider area in September 1943, at the monument that exists in their honor, followed by the laying of wreaths by those present.

Afterwards, a Trisagion was held at the “Vervelakis” Metochi in the Ano Kornia area of ​​Viannos, in honor of the three siblings of the Vervelakis family, specifically 8-year-old Evangelia, 12-year-old Maria, and 15-year-old Stylianos, who were brutally murdered by the Nazis, after first being tortured to testify where their father had hidden.

The ceremonies took place with the cooperation and support of the Agios Vasilios cultural association, to which the Municipal Authority warmly thanks.

They were attended by: The President of the Association of Holocaust Victims of Viannos Aristomenis Syngelakis. The Presidents of the Communities of Agios Vasilios Christos Papadakis, Kefalovrysion Vasiliki Vasilaki and the President of the Cultural Association of Agios Vasilios Yianna Psaraki.
