
Dr Christos Kyratsous, Senior Vice President of Research at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals N.Y., USA, will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate of the Department of Pharmacy of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, for his contribution to science, especially to Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, and to society, due to the impact of his work on Public Health.
The Appointment Ceremony took place on Monday 23 June 2025 at 18:30, in the Ceremonial Hall of the Old Building of the Faculty of Philosophy.

BIO
Dr. Christos Kyratsous is Senior Vice President of Research at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, and his achievements in recombinant monoclonal antibody therapies for the MERS, Ebola, and SARS-CoV-2 viruses are widely recognized as groundbreaking.
Dr. Kyratsous was born and raised in Kozani and completed his undergraduate studies at the Department of Pharmacy, School of Health Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2004). He earned his PhD from the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Columbia University Medical School in New York, USA (2004–2009), where he was honored with the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Research (2009).
He continued his research activities at the Cancer Research Institute of New York University (2009–2011) before starting his own research team at Regeneron. His research, focused on pioneering technologies and therapies that significantly impact public health, has yielded highly significant scientific results (>60 publications in top scientific journals and >50 patents), but most importantly, the development of innovative and effective treatments that have saved the lives of many thousands of people.
The importance and scope of Dr. Kyratsous’s work have been recognized not only by the scientific community but also more broadly. He was included by Business Insider magazine in the list of 30 young “leaders” who are “transforming” the future of healthcare worldwide (2019), and by Fortune magazine among the 40 under 40 leaders in the health sector.
Dr. Kyratsous was recognized as Inventor of the Year (2021) by the New York Intellectual Property Law Association and has been honored for his research with significant awards such as the “Athenagoras” Human Rights Award (2021), the Bodossakis Foundation Award (2021), and the Prix Galien Greece (2023).
The Conferment Ceremony is part of the events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Department of Pharmacy at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
