
VERGOS Auctions is renewing its established appointment with art lovers with 163 creations by renowned artists. The upcoming 19th & 20th Century Modern Greek Painting & Sculpture Auction will take place on Wednesday, May 28th, at 6:30 pm at the Zappeion Hall, offering collectors the opportunity to acquire representative works covering all artistic movements of the period.

In the context of the House’s social responsibility, all the works of the auction are presented in a three-day exhibition, with free admission for the public, while guided tours for educational institutions are organized (Zappeion Hall, 25-27 May).
The works of Nikos Engonopoulos “The View of the City” and Konstantinos Parthenis “Still Life with Japanese Vase” are expected to be of interest to collectors. Other notable works include Nikolaos Gyzis‘ “Poppies“, Konstantinos Volanakis‘ “Harbour“, Yannis Moralis‘ “Objects (Maria’s mess)” and Theophilos‘ “Georgios Karaiskakis chasing Resit Pasha“, among many others.
From the field of sculpture, the creations of Sophia Vari, Kostas Varotsos, Theodoros Papagiannis and George Zongolopoulos play a leading role, as well as an impressive section with three ceramic forms and a table by the ceramist Eleni Vernadakis.
