With the help of hundreds of children and many people, Santa Claus managed to “save” this year’s Christmas, starting his journey on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from the Venetian Harbour of Chania, before travelling to children all over the world.
The adventure of Santa Claus began when his sleigh “landed” at the Lighthouse of Chania, while in his effort to find the right spot, he was confronted with a group of enemies of Christmas, the Kakomavroi, who tried to prevent him from starting his mission.
The voices of the children who gathered at the Venetian Harbour of Chania guided and finally led Santa Claus safely to the Christmas tree of our city, in Yali Mosque Square.
Young and old alike experienced the ultimate adventure , as they had the opportunity to see Santa Claus on a jet-ski instead of a sleigh, in a frantic chase through the waters of the Venetian Port, as well as his safe arrival at the pier of the Port and his transportation, via the Christmas carriage, to the Christmas tree.
“The immediate reflexes of the Municipality of Chania, who responded quickly to the request of Santa Claus for help,” said the Mayor of Chania, Panagiotis Simandirakis, who was at the point, along with the entire municipal authority, rallying the crowd against the Kakomavroi, while not failing to thank the Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Nektarios Psaroudakis for organizing the event.
The event was organized by the Department of Tourism and the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Chania in collaboration with the Municipal Port Fund, while the contribution of dozens of volunteers from the Red Cross, the Yacht Club of Chania, the Voluntary Lifesaving Unit of the Yacht Club of Chania and the Port Authority was important for its successful conduct.
