Little hunters looking for the… lost Christmas light, choirs, music and dance steps make up the puzzle of actions that will “accompany” the lighting of the Christmas tree in George Square of Patras on Thursday afternoon, December 12.

The lighting of the tree will take place at 6.30 in the afternoon with the young “hunters” having started earlier the search for the “lost” Christmas light.

Immediately afterwards, the choirs and vocal ensembles from Merimna, the Cantelena choir and the ” ANTICHO ” choir will take the baton. The Philharmonic Orchestra of the Music School, the Municipality of Patras Dance Band and the Municipal Band will make their own mark on the event.

The street theatre group X-SALTIBAGOS participates in the lighting and the start of the festivities, with stilt-walkers, clowns, balancers, acrobats, jugglers, mimes, dancers to give a special touch to the evening.

Narrated by Vasso Kalokairinou (member of the theatre group YPOKRITES).

An opportunity for reflection and action

The event, apart from its entertaining character, sends a message on contemporary energy issues. Through the game, the concerns about the increased price of energy, the uncontrolled installation of wind turbines in the mountains and the sea, such as the placement of offshore wind turbines in the Patraikos Gulf, are highlighted.

Patras welcomes Christmas with a message of cooperation, hope and sustainable action.
