The University of Cyprus will hold the inauguration ceremony of the Research Unit for Medieval Arts and Rituals on Friday 18 October at 18:00 in the Ceremonial Hall at 75 Kallipoleos Street.

Apart from the presentation of the work of the unit, the usual greetings and a small reception, the inauguration event will also include medieval music from Cyprus. The well-known Greek early music ensemble Ex Silentio (www.exsilentio.org) will present religious and secular music of the Lusignan court from the rare and precious Codex of Cyprus (Ms Torino J.II.9) kept in the National University Library of Turin (Italy). It is a luxurious manuscript, the work of a Frenchman who stayed at the Lusignan court between 1413 and 1430. Ex Silentio, conducted by the renowned flutist Dimitris Kountouras, has a very rich international presence in festivals and on the discography.
