The cycle of thematic guided tours will continue this September at the National Gallery with a central theme: “The portrait – the portrayal of the face – The history of Greek painting through the faces of those who lived it“.
With the guidance of the staff, the audience will be able to discern the different needs of artists and historical figures to keep their form alive through the centuries. The starting point will be the ascetic and trembling figures of saints in late 16th century works. This tour will bring them as close as possible to the present day through faces and portraits of people worked with new materials and techniques, trying to bring something new to the long tradition of portrait and portrait painting.
