The Mamidakis Foundation announces an open call for the 3rd Research Residency Programme, inviting Greek researchers and cultural professionals from various fields. The residency will host 8-10 fellows, is fully funded and will take place between 20-27 October 2024 in Agios Nikolaos, Crete.
The Mamidakis Foundation is a non-profit organization with the mission to support and promote contemporary art and culture, the transmission of knowledge and the support of perpetual education. With this starting point, the creation of the residency programme from 2022 aims to bring together people from the field of art and culture and to provide opportunities for mobility and coexistence of Greek cultural professionals.
The residency aspires to create a new platform for collective learning, discussion and experimentation. It is a 10-day, intensive, collaborative programme with a variety of research and experiential workshops by guest lecturers from Greece and abroad, discussions, exchange of practices and field research. Bringing together active professionals from the field of culture – artists, curators, activists, architects, researchers, poets, writers, translators, academics – the residency aims to awaken, develop new networks of synergy and collaboration, enrich the Greek literature and provide access to multiple experiences. The programme culminates with an electronic and print publication, to be launched next summer.
The 2024 residency is again taking place under the umbrella of CARE ECOLOGIES, focusing on topics such as culture, ecologies, environmental responsibility, post-development theory, ethnographic methods and observation, knowledge extraction and the intersection between the Anthropocene Age and the social history of AI.
The programme will be held in Greek and English. The application form can be submitted exclusively through the Foundation’s website HERE. Applications by email, telephone or any other means other than the official application form on the website will not be accepted.
The closing date for applications is Wednesday, 21 August 2024, 23:59.
