The Athens Epidaurus Festival welcomes to the Odeon of Herodes Atticus the “most eerily beautiful voice on the planet“, the charismatic counter tenor Jakub Jozef Orlinski. It is the first time that the award-winning star of opera and breakdance comes to Greece.
He will be joined by the acclaimed baroque and classical ensemble Il Pomod’ Oro in a concert based on the album Beyond.
Generation Z knows Orlinski well: he is the artist who connects this generation with the world of opera, who is not afraid to introduce them to the Baroque and present them in his own unique way with rarely heard compositions, proving how much classical music can be loved today. “Ever since I was a child,” Orlinski has said, “when I listened to this music, something vibrated in me, I wanted to explode, to dance. Often, at the practices I did with my breakdance team, I would put classical instrumental music on them and invite them to explore whether the music really dictated the movement. It may not lead our steps in the way of hard-core rap or house, but it does.”
Pomod’ Oro appear for the second time at the Odeon. Founded in 2012, they immediately became known for their dynamic, historically informed interpretation of baroque and classical works. They take their name from Chesti’s opera of the same name. To date, they have recorded 46 award-winning CDs of instrumental and operatic music.
