The book, through the description of a contemporary construction, explores the ways of expressing architectural design, covering almost the entire range of design conventions of architectural design. It is aimed primarily at architecture students, but the subject matter is extended to other fields in order to cover a range of other issues of drawing representation, which are relevant to a wider circle beyond university courses. Architectural drawing as a mental construction – as the author approaches it – encodes spatial desire through a set of rules, setting up channels of communication between the sciences of engineering, fine arts and mathematics. Seeking to prefigure the real, it can be seen both as a tool to verify the construction and as the predominant instructional text, describing and guiding.
