VERGOS Auctions (www.vergosauctions.com) is organizing an auction with 103 works of contemporary art selected from the personal collection of Chrysanthos Panas, on Monday, April 1st at 7:00 pm at the Foyer of the Pallas Theatre. Part of the proceeds of the auction will be donated to support ELEPAP, Hellenic Society for the Protection and Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons, www.elepap.gr.
The auction includes paintings, photographs and art installations by contemporary artists including Alekos Fassianos, Yannis Kottis, Manolis Charos, Stephen Antonakos, Marina Karella, Panos Kokkinias, Philippos Fotiadis, Marina Vernicos, Nanos Valaoritis, Maria Filopoulou and others. The works were recently exhibited at the Michael Cacoyannis Foundation as part of the exhibition “Greek Kaleidoscope” of Chrysanthos Pana’s personal collection.
To support the important work of ELEPAP, which for 87 years has embraced more than 100,000 infants, children and adults with disabilities in its 6 Centres throughout Greece, Chrysanthos Panas and VERGOS Auctions will donate 20% of the total proceeds of the auction.
An entrepreneur and writer, Chrysanthos Panas started his collection in 1989 by buying his first artwork from an avant garde gallery of the time in his late teens. Today his collection consists of more than 300 works of art by Greek and foreign artists widely recognized for their artistic paths such as Takis, Chryssa, Fernando Botero, Marina Abramović, Gregory Crewdson, Stanley Whitney, Louise Bonnet and many others.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on Thursday 28 March in the Foyer of the Pallas Theatre and the exhibition will run until Sunday 31 March.
