MSc Health Promotion in Third Age

The Department of Public and Community Health, of the School of Public Health of the University of West Attica, organizes and operates from the academic year 2020-2021 a Master’s Program entitled:

Health Promotion in Third Age

General Information

The graduates of this Program will be trained in the planning, development and implementation of actions that will help the elderly to remain active citizens, to live with autonomy and dignity and to ensure their unhindered access to information for the promotion and protection of their health.

Upon successful completion of the master’s degree, the student will be able to design and develop policies that will contribute to:

-Supporting older people to remain independent and active.

-In the promotion of health and disease prevention in the Third Age.

– To improve the quality of life of the elderly.

The duration of the studies leading to the awarding of the Master’s Degree (MSc) is defined in three (3) academic semesters and is structured in two (2) academic semesters of teaching, each semester corresponding to 30 credit units (ECTS), as well as one semester for writing a postgraduate thesis (30 ECTS).

A total of ninety (90) credits are required to obtain the degree. The allowed duration of completion of the obligations for receiving the MSC cannot be less than three (3) academic semesters. Classes can be held on all days of the week for the convenience of graduate students who have parallel professional employment.

This program accepts graduates from the Department of Public and Community Health, departments of Medicine and Dentistry, Nursing, Psychology, Special Education, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Social Sciences, Public Health Policy, as well as graduates of other related sciences with the subjects and purposes of this MSc.

The maximum number of students admitted to the program is set at thirty (30).

Tuition fees amount to €2,250 per student for the entire program and are paid in three (3) equal installments at the beginning of each semester.

In case of waiting to receive a scholarship and exemption from tuition fees, the candidate may not pay tuition fees until the relevant decision is notified.

Those interested can submit the application form online, accompanied by the required supporting documents, from 31/7/23 until Friday 29/9/2023, 24:00.

Candidate interviews will take place on Tuesday 3/10/2023 and Wednesday 4/10/2023. Applicants who do not have the required language qualification will be assessed on the same day as the interview with a written test of comprehension of a scientific text at level C1.
