On the occasion of the International Day of stray animals (04.04.2023) the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST) and the Department of Urban fauna of the municipality of Athens are organizing on Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 11.00 to 14.00, an event for a “different four-legged Modern Love”!

Those who wish can visit EMST with their pet and tour the exhibition “Modern Love. Love in the years of cold intimacy”, as in the rest of the museum’s exhibitions.

EMST, the only organization in Attica that welcomes our four-legged friends and “Socrates shelter”, a temporary shelter for homeless dogs, the Urban fauna of the city of Athens, invite you to a different event, aiming to spread the message of adoption of stray dogs and the mission messages of” Socrates shelter ” that concern the improvement of the lives of pets and the support of the human-animal bond through adoptions, reunification and education.

The Department of Urban fauna of the municipality of Athens is responsible for the collection, medical care, feeding and care of stray animals that live or are located within the boundaries of the municipality. One of the pillars of Urban fauna is the temporary shelter of the municipality of Athens “shelter of Socrates”, which started its operation in 2021 and is more than just an animal shelter. It is a place where dedicated professionals and volunteers share their commitment, passion and talent to help the animals and people of the municipality so that:

• Every pet can be adopted and find its home.
• Any lost pet can be reunited with its guardian.
• Every pet should be treated with kindness and respect.

Free entrance from 11.00 to 14.00 for those who visit the museum with their pet.
