Aesthetically and functionally upgraded to residents, professionals and visitors the area between Lagada, Monastiri and Michail Kalou, in the second Municipal community, where a network of interventions by the municipality of Thessaloniki is evolving.
The area, where extensive redevelopment projects are being implemented, was visited today (21/03) morning by the mayor of Thessaloniki Konstantinos Zervas and the Deputy Mayor of technical works and sustainable mobility Efraim Kyrizidis, to inspect the progress of the interventions.
“An area that was run down and deprived of care is changing its face. It is an area of Western Thessaloniki that is developing rapidly. With the projects we are implementing as a municipality in this part of the city we are precisely giving impetus to this direction of development,” said Efraim Kyrizidis, Deputy Mayor of technical works and sustainable mobility.
The redevelopment works are underway in an area of 130 acres enclosed by Lagada, Monastiriou and Michail Kalou streets. The aim of the intervention is the functional, aesthetic and environmental upgrading of the wider region. Among other things, accessibility is improved through interventions that ensure comfortable and safe movement for pedestrians, the impeded and people with disabilities. In addition, interventions are made to arrange the movement and parking of vehicles as well as renovations of sidewalks and common areas. At the same time, urban equipment is upgraded and lighting is enhanced, while tree planting is also planned.
