After 6 solo exhibitions abroad and numerous projects all over the world, The Krah launches his solo exhibition entitled ”Old Versus New” on Tuesday, May 3rd at Art Appel Gallery.
Influenced by the art nouveau, pop-surrealism and urban art he represents, The Krah will present paintings, sculptures and graffiti murals on the theme of mythology in the modern era.
The exhibition will also feature the artist’s limited edition collections of three sold out screen prints now permanently in the private collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. These prints have been featured in a book published by the V&A Museum entitled: Street Art Contemporary prints.
During the exhibition there will be a live mural painting by the artist outside the gallery, as part of the This is Athens Festival, an initiative of Athens Culture Net of the Municipality of Athens, the Municipal Council of Athens, PSAAT and Art Athina.
ABOUT
The Krah grew up in Athens, where he got his start in graffiti art in the 90s.
He has exhibited his works in many European countries, the USA and Japan. He has been invited, among the top street artists from around the world, by Banksy to participate in the Cans festival, in an underground tunnel under Waterloo.
He has collaborated with major chains such as Adidas and Nokia, as well as artists such as Arctic Monkeys and others.
For the past 18 years he has been painting the streets, touring Europe, Mexico, Japan, Thailand and other Asian countries, leaving a legacy of his work in each city.
