Artists Dimitris Κostas, Stelios Panagiotopoulos, Stefanos Souvatzoglou, Dimitris Tsiantzis and Andreas Kalakallas came together to create the Five.

Artists Dimitris Κostas, Stelios Panagiotopoulos, Stefanos Souvatzoglou, Dimitris Tsiantzis and Andreas Kalakallas came together to create the Five, a group that was established in 2018 and has produced significant works of art during the last three years. The artists, who first met and worked together at the workshop of Giorgos Chouliaras at the School of Fine Arts, decided to create a group inspired by their common reflections and visions about sculpture.

“While always maintaining the individuality and uniqueness of their artistic expression, the artists create works that converse first and foremost with each other and then with the viewer, creating an interesting ensemble of shapes and forms”, says art historian Venia Pastaka and adds: “With materials such as bronze, marble, wood, as well as objects of daily life, they create sculptures with a critical perspective on societal and -in fact- deeply human issues; from the constant struggle for survival to the most personal quests and reflections.”

The Five dedicate their exhibition to the memory of the artist Pavlos Samios. The Art Space “STOart KORAI” welcomes this gesture, as it was closely associated with this important artist, who was a member of the Exhibition Selection Committee since 2016, while in November 2018 he held there his very successful exhibition, “The Lovers of the Earth”; and this is but a minimal tribute to the great artist and man who was very much loved in his field, both for his art and his attitude.
