Description:
The Department of Agricultural Economics and Development in collaboration with the Department of Animal Production Science of the Agricultural University of Athens, offers the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Programme of Studies (I.P.S.) “Farm Business Management & Consulting in Rural Development “.
The aim of the Programme is to offer up to date knowledge of postgraduate level, related to Economics and Management Science, Animal Production and Aquaculture Sciences, combined with important issues of Plant Production. It is the only postgraduate programme in Greece that covers the specific scientific fields.
The main objective of this Programme is to face the job market’s significant shortage of scientists/executives for agricultural enterprises, consultancy firms and related service organizations in agriculture, by providing alumni with high quality knowledge of economics, management, and the production process in the primary sector.
The Postgraduate Programme offers a master’s degree (MSc) in “Farm Business Management & Consulting in Rural Development “. To obtain the degree, students must attend courses and seminars as well as to present a thesis, collecting 90 ECTS
The curriculum has been designed to exceed the standards of corresponding postgraduate Programmes at international level in Farm Business Management. It is flexible, since the amount of offered courses allows the student to tailor his/her “individual” study programme according to his/her needs, while through distance learning, every provision has been made to facilitate the attendance and active participation in the Programme of students working or residing outside the area of Attica.
Each year the Programme grants scholarships to its students based on academic, objective criteria: the two students who have successfully finished all the courses of each semester and have achieved the highest average grade point, receive a scholarship. A total of six scholarships are awarded to students each academic year.
