Description

The Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the University of the Aegean has re-established and operates from the academic year 2018-19, a Postgraduate Studies Programme (M.Sc. (Government Gazette 3245/08/08/2018, Vol. B), which leads to a Diploma of Postgraduate Studies (MSc in Cultural Informatics and Communication), with three (3) specializations:

 

  1. I) Design of Digital Cultural Products
  2. II) Museology

III) Culture and Documentary Film Production

The aim of the MSc is to train scientists and researchers highly qualified in the application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for the emergence and promotion of cultural data, as well as the promotion of scientific knowledge and research in Cultural Informatics and Communication, specializing in the fields of Digital Culture, Museology and Documentary Film.

DURATION AND MEANS OF IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROGRAMME

The MSc lasts for three (3) semesters and utilizes hybrid forms of learning (blended learning ) . Specifically, the first two semesters of study are devoted to courses that are conducted, for the most part, at a distance, in regular predefined meetings through a modern distance learning platform. The remainder of the programme is implemented through short intensive cycles of  courses at the Department’s headquarters in Mytilene. The third semester is dedicated to the preparation of the postgraduate thesis.

Attendance of the courses and participation in all kinds of educational activities is compulsory, both in face-to-face and distance meetings, and in any case, absences cannot exceed 25% of the total number of students of the total number of hours provided for in the programme. The language of instruction is Greek, but the educational activity includes compulsory or optional study of literature or general references in English.

START AND END DATES

The start of the courses is scheduled for October 2022 and the completion of the Programme (with the submission and presentation of the thesis) in February 2024, with the possibility of a one-semester extension.
