The main mission of the Orthodox Academy of Crete is to facilitate the meeting of man with himself and with his fellow man, in an honest discussion, that is, in the joint search for truth. In its more than fifty-five (55) years of operation, listening to the anxieties of the local and wider societies, the problems and concerns, it takes initiatives of dialogue and common reflection, sharing and opening, with the sole motivation of contributing to the search for proposals and positions that will contribute to the common good and benefit, with human life, which, according to the Orthodox faith, is a precious and irreplaceable “gift of God”, as the top priority.

Unfortunately, road accidents, for many different reasons, are increasing every day with geometric progress. The loss of human life as a consequence probably exceeds the loss of a war. Added to the tragic consequences for the families of the victims of road traffic accidents, they are unfathomable. Neither Chania nor Crete as a whole are exempt from this universal human drama.

With these brief thoughts, the Orthodox Academy of Crete invites the public to a first meeting-discussion on the topic: “MAN, VOAK and LIFE”, on Friday 20 September 2024 at 9:00 a.m., at the premises of the Orthodox Academy of Crete, in Kolymbari, Chania.

Request: Those of the Institutions wishing to have a five (5′) minute intervention, to submit a proposal, are invited to contact the Foundation: Dr. Constantine V. Zorbas, as well as for any additional information at 2824022245-22500 or at the e-mail address [email protected], no later than Monday, September 16, 2024, in order to facilitate and organize the process. The meeting will be preceded by a blessings ceremony for all victims of road accidents in Crete.
