
ESTIA Nea Smyrni is organizing an event in honor of the Three Hierarchs, the great teachers of Orthodoxy and Greek Education.
The event will be twofold and will include:
–Speech by Professor Elias Liamis, Doctor of Theology – Music Educator & Author on the topic: “Roman Education and the feeling of spiritual superiority”
&
-Periodic Exhibition dedicated to Education in Asia Minor entitled: “Light of Education in Asia Minor”
The exhibition highlights the decisive role of education in Asia Minor as a key factor in preserving the Greek language, cultural identity, and historical continuity of Hellenism within a multinational and multicultural environment.
Through relics, archival documents, and rich photographic material from the Museum Collection of ESTIA Nea Smyrni, the following are highlighted:
– the renowned Greek schools of Asia Minor,
– the role of the Church and communities in preserving education,
– the teachers and scholars of the Modern Greek Enlightenment,
– the contribution of education to the coexistence of cultures and the formation of the Greek identity in Asia Minor.
The exhibition pays tribute to the memory, culture, and spirit that was passed down from Asia Minor to modern Greece and remains alive to this day.
