The 1st Aristotle Conference on Chemistry is organized by the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, from Monday 13 to Wednesday 15 November 2023, at the KEDEA of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The Conference is organized on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Department of Chemistry (1943-2023).The aim of the Conference is to present recent developments and progress in each field of research and applications of the science of Chemistry, through 12 thematic sections.

According to the organizers, “the year 2023 is particularly important for the people of the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, old and young, as it completes 80 years of operation (1943-2023).The Department of Chemistry, through its teaching and research work, has provided all over Greece with graduates of renowned chemistry, who occupy high positions in the job market, but also progress significantly with their own business ventures. At such a time, we consider it crucial to highlight the valuable link between the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the industrial and business world of Northern Greece, through relevant speeches by successful graduates”.

Department of Chemistry, SEVE and EVETH

In the context of the Conference, an event will be held, co-organized by the Exporters’ Association (SEVE) and the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EVETH), on Sunday 12 November 2023 at 18.00, at the building of EVETH (Tsimiski 29).

According to the organisers, the event aims “to bring together scientific knowledge from the academic community and the experiences/practices that are flourishing in the professional and industrial world. Chemistry, a science that crosses numerous disciplines and fields, concerns a multitude of professionals and professions ranging from education and research, to the production of agricultural and industrial products and the provision of services, e.g. chemical analysis”.

The Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki recognizes as an important institutional obligation the education and training of young scientists in advanced knowledge of Chemistry and the corresponding fields of cutting-edge application of Chemistry, with a direct link to the country’s economy through innovative production processes, provision of advanced services and specialized know-how.

The extroversion of the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and its cooperation with active bodies of the national economy, such as SEVE and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, are the most appropriate way, according to the organizers, to produce business executives, as well as freelancers and entrepreneurs with a high level of knowledge, self-confidence and creative spirit. This cooperation, in addition to strengthening the local economy and ensuring sustainable development, promotes a collaborative and inclusive learning and learning environment through the exchange of views, experiences and methods.
