The European research project RAISE was selected by CORDIS, the European Commission’s official platform for European research and innovation results, as “Project of the Month” for January 2026.

In its feature, CORDIS highlights one of the most critical challenges facing the modern research community: researchers’ reluctance to publish data, especially when it comes to sensitive data sets, where control of use, identification, and regulatory compliance.

RAISE addresses this obstacle by introducing a fundamental paradigm shift from the traditional “data sharing” model to the “data visiting” model. In this context, providers keep the data within their own infrastructure and under full control, while authorized users execute algorithms in trusted computing environments without downloading or transferring the data.

At the same time, the RAISE Portal platform records each stage of processing and assigns a Research Analysis Identifier (RAI), enhancing the reproducibility of research and ensuring traceability, recognition performance, and compliance with regulatory requirements for the management of sensitive data.

The selection of RAISE as “Project of the Month” reflects the project’s significant progress in developing practical and interoperable solutions for the secure processing of research data on a large scale.

The strong Greek participation in the consortium is crucial to the success of the project. The project is coordinated by Aristotle University, with the participation of, among others, the University of Western Macedonia, the University of Macedonia, EKETA, the Athena Research Center, OpenAIRE, and companies. The project is being implemented in collaboration with partners from Europe, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Cyprus.

As noted by RAISE’s Scientific Director, Associate Professor of Medicine Evdokimos Konstantinidis, “Recognition by CORDIS as ‘Project of the Month’ highlights the need for practical solutions and confirms that RAISE’s results have strong scientific acceptance.” For his part, Panagiotis Bamidis, Director of the Laboratory of Medical Physics and Digital Innovation at the Department of Medicine of Aristotle University, emphasizes that “this momentum will continue through the RAISE Suite project, the continuation of the project.”
