The Departments of Journalism & Media and Planning & Development Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in cooperation with the Association of Greek Women Sociologists – Thessaloniki Branch, are organizing a two-day conference, in the context of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The two-day conference focuses on the fact that in 1926 the first chair of sociology in the country was established at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The two-day conference includes presentations and discussions on the development of sociology and social sciences at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as on modern research approaches. Two experiential workshops on sociological research and intervention are also organized, focusing on empirical sociological research and work with vulnerable social groups.
The aim is to provide a forum for experience and creative dialogue on the ways in which social reality and its changes are perceived and investigated, as well as on the contribution of scientific discourse to its transformation.
The two-day conference will take place on Friday 23 (09:30-20:15) and Saturday 24 May (10:00-14:30), in the building of the Faculties of Law and Social & Economic Sciences (1st floor, Room 4).
