1st Meeting: “Constitution and foreign policy”, 9 July 2022

In its almost ten years of operation, the National Reconciliation Park (NRP), which operates under the responsibility of the Foundation of the Hellenic Parliament, has demonstrated significant work in the areas of highlighting contemporary history, historical memory, tradition and the natural environment of the region. After a period of forced respite due to the pandemic, this summer a new institution is being launched: the annual “Meetings in the Park”.

The Meetings will focus, each time, on a thematic axis, with the participation of academics, researchers and other experts in each subject. These axes, in addition to history, will cover issues such as citizenship, governance challenges, the climate crisis, the economy, society and culture.

The launch will take place on Saturday 9 July at 10.30am. The title of the first meeting is “Constitution and Foreign Policy”. In two roundtable discussions, leading experts will discuss “What does the Constitution say about foreign policy?” (10.30-12.00) and “Constitutionalism and sovereignty – International and domestic legal order” (18.30-20.00). Mr. Konstantinos Tasoulas, President of the Greek Parliament. After the first round table (12.00-14.00), a guided tour of the premises of the PES will be given by the scientific director Theodoros Siontes. The event is dedicated to the memory of Philip Petsalnikos, the initiator of the Park.

Participants: Sofia Galani (Panteion University), Panagiotis Doudonis (University of Oxford), Ismeni Kriari (Parliament Foundation, Panteion University), George Karavokyris (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), George Katrougalos (former President of the Greek Parliament, George K.
