Loukia Droulia kept a personal archive on her research interests, such as the Modern Greek Enlightenment, the philhellenic movement, the history of the Greek press, and more.
The Historical Archive of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens continues the activities of recording, transcribing and digitizing its existing archival material collections, and during 2020-2021 it has acquired the following archives as well:
LOUKIA DROULIA ARCHIVE
Ms. Elli Droulia donated rich archival material collected by her mother, Loukia Droulia, to the Historical Archive. Loukia Droulia, a leading historian of Modern Greek History, former Director of the Institute of Modern Greek Studies of the National Hellenic Research Foundation, passed away in July 2019. She kept a personal archive on her research interests, such as the Modern Greek Enlightenment, the philhellenic movement, the history of the Greek press, and more.
FORENSIC MEDICINE LABORATORY ARCHIVE
A large part of the archives of the Medical Forensic Service of the Medical School of the period 1913-1949 has already been digitized (30 volumes) and the digitization of the rest of the archives (until 1973) is in progress. The archives include valuable scientific material that will soon be available to researchers, thanks to the collaboration with the Laboratory of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology of the NKUA and the Director of Toxicology, Maria Stefanidou-Loutsidou.
SECRETARIAT OF THE SENATE ARCHIVE (1983 -2000)
The volumes of the Minutes of the Meetings of the University’s Senate for the years 1983-2000, which were donated by the Secretariat of the Senate, complete now the corresponding archival series already available to the Historical Archive (years 1837-1983). The Minutes of the Meetings include information on administrative and educational issues of the University, issues concerning financial and legal affairs, matters of university property, etc. The Minutes of the Meetings of the Senate comprise one of the most basic archival collections of the Historical Archive and have contributed greatly to scientific research.
KOSTAS GAVROGLOU – ANNI VRYCHEA ARCHIVE
The emeritus professor and former Minister of Education, Kostas Gavroglou, also served as President of Historical Archive. After his retirement, he made available to the Archives’s collections the archive he maintained in collaboration with the late professor of the National Technical University of Athens Anni Vrychea (1944-2005) and which focuses on the period 1978-1982 and the struggle of the Laboratory Teaching Staff (LTS) with the aim of changing the legal framework for Higher Education Institutions.
XENOFONTAS D. MOUSAS ARCHIVE FOR THE STUDY OF THE ANTIKYTHERA MECHANISM
The Emeritus Professor of Space Physics of the Department of Physics of the NKUA, Mr. X. Mousas, donated archival material, including documents between the University (X. Mousas) and the National Archaeological Museum, as well as scientific publications in Greek and foreign journals. This material will soon be classified and recorded, in order for it to become available for researchers.
