This year’s participation of the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion in the Municipality of Heraklion’s “Art on the Road” Festival presents six (6) of its most famous and emblematic exhibits.
Those that appear as logos of the Minoan civilization in advertisements, in the press, in tourist shops. Their images scattered by every means, carried like leaves on the wind, across the length and breadth of the world. What was it that made them famous, that elevated them to autonomous entities as survivor witnesses of a fascinating world covered by the dust of centuries? How and why do they stand out among the 13,500 exhibits in a famous museum?
Winged bees and scary goddesses with snakes, a lanky prince in a dream garden, a golden ring, royal, that disappears and unexpectedly reappears, the clay tray with mysterious symbols, the mosaic of the city, scattered images of a coastal state, and above all this scientific research in a foggy landscape that still refuses to come to a conclusion.
Meet six projected exhibits wrapped in hidden stories that will be told by Museum archaeologists on Saturday 21.06.2025 at 22.00 – 23.00, on Monday 23.06.2025 at 19.00 – 20.00 and on Saturday 28.06.2025 at 19.00 – 20.00.
