The Hellenic Parliament Foundation for Parliamentarism and Democracy presented its new publication The Aegis of Hellas: The Continuing Vigour of Philhellenism, written by Anastasio Tamis, director of the Australian Institute for Hellenic Research. The event took place on Monday, July 17, at the café in the Garden of the Numismatic Museum.
Regarding the publication, it is a record and an analysis of the multiple forms of interest in Greek culture – from ancient times to the present day – around the world. The book examines not only the Greek Diaspora, but also the various cultural networks formed by people who study Greek culture as an intellectual point of reference. Certainly, the scope of this research effort is vast. It is a testimony to the endurance, the strength, the modern character, the radiance of the Greek culture and the communities of the Greek Diaspora.

Georgios Babiniotis, Professor Emeritus of Linguistics, former Rector, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens / president, Arsakeia Schools.
Iakovos Michailidis, professor of Modern and Contemporary History, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
Anastasios M. Tamis, professor of Sociolinguistics and History of the Greek Diaspora / director, Australian Institute for Hellenic Research president, Australian Institute of Macedonian Studies.
The event was coordinated by Evanthis Hatzivasileiou, professor of History of the Postwar World, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens / general secretary, Foundation of the Hellenic Parliament Foundation, while greetings were given by Her Excellency. ambassador under accreditation of Australia to Greece Ms. Alison Duncan.
