The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion is organizing the first screening of the film “Ekatombolis, the World of Archaic Crete,” which was created as part of the temporary exhibition “Ekatombolis. The World of Archaic Crete,” in the Museum’s Fresco Room (1st floor).

The film “Ekatombolis” is a cinematic journey through the world of the cities of ancient Crete, along the coasts and harbors, on the hilltops and fortified heights where the early communities of the island’s citizens were born and developed. The film’s narration is by Professor Angelos Haniotis, whose voice accompanies the film and highlights the historical and cultural context of the cities from which the ancient works in the temporary exhibition originate. The film is the latest work by director Giorgos Didymiotis, creator of the award-winning archaeological film “The Vacationers of History,” who will be present and will discuss the film with the audience.

The first volume of the catalog of the temporary exhibition will be presented at the same event. published by the Museum’s Publications and Digital Applications Department, with a brief introduction by the Head of the Department, Dr. Stella Mandalaki, and the Head of the Scientific Publications and Libraries Department, Dr. Irini Nikolakopoulou.
