The translation on which Theodoros Terzopoulos’s theatrical adaptation of Aeschylus’ “Oresteia” trilogy was based.

The entire critical community praised the way the Chorus was managed and directed by the internationally acclaimed director, while the audience watched with awe Terzopoulos’s method of “decoding” the mysteries of ancient Greek tragedy. The translator Eleni Varopoulou, explaining her approach to this enigmatic work, notes that during her work she tried to emphasize the “performative dimension of the phrases for the sake of the actors as well as the audience.”

In the present edition, which includes rich photographic material of the milestone performance at Epidaurus, the reader also finds theoretical texts by Maria Sikitano, Eirini Mountraki, Maria Vogiatzis, Pinelopi Chatzidimitriou, Giorgos Sabatakakis, Eleni Varopoulou, and Theodoros Terzopoulos.
