Dumbarton Oaks is located in Washington, D.C., belongs to Harvard University, and cultivates, in various ways, study and research in three fields, in accordance with the interests and wishes of its founders, Robert and Mildred Bliss: Byzantium, garden and landscape architecture, pre-Columbian art, and archaeology.

To serve its objectives, Dumbarton Oaks has a rich publishing program in all three of these fields. The NLG should normally have all these publications, especially those concerning Byzantium.

In December 2025, the NLG purchased twenty-four volumes of the Medieval Library series, containing Byzantine texts (in a bilingual edition, with the Greek text and English translation side by side). Three had already been acquired, making a total of twenty-seven. In addition to Byzantine texts, the Medieval Library also publishes medieval Latin and Old English texts, and the immediate goal is, on the one hand, to complete the series (which included only three Latin texts) and, on the other hand, to purchase all the books in the other series relating to Byzantium.

Interested parties may see the book in NLG’s Public Catalogue.
