The Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation offers a multi-faceted programme of activities for children and adults for the period 2024-2025. The programme is structured as follows:

Activities for children and adolescents:

  1. “Where did they all go?”: An event for children on the occasion of the book by Sophia Dartzalis.

An exciting journey in Art, with collage, painting, treasure hunt and lots of colour!

The programme is aimed at children from 6 to 10 years old.

2. The best man cat: A workshop on folk tales for children.

Can the cat ever be the best man to the mice? How many fairy tales can our bellies hold? What do fairy tales have to do with tongue twisters and jokes?

The programme is aimed at children from 9 to 12 years old.

3. An illustration workshop for children on the occasion of the graphic novel adaptation of Alki Zei’s book “Close to the rails”.

Sasha, the protagonist of the book, is an only daughter. She spends hours looking at the rails that go beyond, far away, to Petersburg. She is so bored that at home her main companion is… her reflection. But soon all that changes, and Sasha makes friends who are smart, interesting and unique, some like her and some not so much. Comic creator Georgia Zachari is waiting for us to draw our friends, to draw with our friends, to discuss what we love most about them, and to create our own comics!

The programme is aimed at children aged 10 to 14 years old.

4. “Paper Bites.”

The first contact with the world of books through storytelling, crafts, games, music and other activities. We touch the books, explore them, discover them and spend creative time with them. Because we can love books before we even learn to read and write.

The programme is aimed at children from 2 to 4 years old.

5. “A world full of stories”.

Based on a book and through various creative activities, children will experiment, express themselves and come into contact with concepts and issues that concern them such as consensus, diversity, self-esteem, bullying, environmental awareness in a safe context.

The programme is aimed at children from 6 to 10 years old.

6. “Poetry by our own measures“.

Guided by language games, humour, the body and the books For Imagination by Kyriakos Haritos, Let’s go catch the sky by Maria Fragou and The Round of Time with poems by Marigo Alexopoulou, children negotiate emotions, recognise verses, stanzas and inversions, “colour” seasons and travel along imaginary routes.

The programme is aimed at children aged 9 to 12 years old.

7. “Sometimes words take root”: a workshop on Oral Storytelling for adolescents.

What is unlikely to happen and yet…does it happen? How many eyes can we look at or how many faces does reality have? When we communicate what takes over? The speech or the expressiveness of the body – gesture, look, pulse?

The programme is aimed at teenagers aged 13 to 16 years old.

8. “Maturing with a book”.

The aim of the workshop is self-awareness, the strengthening of self-esteem and self-confidence, emotional cultivation and expression, the development of mental resilience. Based on the book and through various experiential activities through Art Therapy, teens will explore their inner world and their relationships with those around them.

The programme is aimed at teenagers aged 12 to 18 years old.

9. “The Journey to Rights”: a theatrical workshop for children on rights and concepts such as democracy, equality and justice”.

With a book as the inspiration for each meeting, which will trigger the experiential experience and expression. Through dramatized scenes, theatrical and visual games and interactive storytelling, children will delve into the theme of each meeting and express themselves creatively.

The programme is aimed at children aged 6 to 11 years old.

10. ”Storytelling with comics: a comic making workshop with Soloύp”

The aim of the workshop is to introduce the participants to the creative world of comics, exploring all the stages of their construction, while providing some basic theoretical and historical information about the “ninth art” and completing a comic of their own at the end of the meetings.

The programme is aimed at teenagers aged 12 – 18 years old.

  1. Managing Childhood Anxiety through Mindfulness: a workshop for teachers and parents.

On the occasion of the new book by Areti Donou entitled: The Big Book of Anxiety from Pedio Publications, those interested will attend an experiential workshop in which there will be a theoretical clarification of terms such as: stress/anxiety distinction, Mindfulness, Cognitive Triad Analysis: Thought-Emotion-Behavior, the Biology of Stress, Cognitive reframing, practice through the MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) approach

2.Online & Live Reading Club: reading books that break down the barriers between children’s and adult literature.

A series of 6 monthly online and face-to-face meetings aimed at adults. We read and discuss milestone books that erase the boundaries between children’s and adult literature with a specific theme: Women in Literature.

Books that were “born” for adults but loved by children and vice versa. We trace the qualities and characteristics that make a story trans-age and timeless. We discuss the infinite transformations of these stories through time.

Six books and a poem – Literature as a road map to salvation.

Why do we read literature? How do we choose the books we read? Can stories “save” our lives? Can poetry help us understand the world? What does the phrase “This book touched me?” mean? Or even “This book changed my life”?

A series of 4 weekly online meetings aimed at adults. We read, analyse and discuss books, both classic and contemporary, adult, young adult and children’s literature, as well as poems, decoding secrets about writing techniques and testing conceptual approaches.

4. Love for Reading and play: a different approach to teaching love for reading: An experiential workshop for teachers and parents.

A series of 4 weekly meetings aimed at adults to explore and discover new techniques to foster a relationship with children’s books.

These techniques are centred on play, interdisciplinarity through different arts and the experiential nature of the activities. The book can become a tool for teaching other subjects, an occasion for expression and discovery, an opportunity for individual and group play in and out of the classroom. Utilizing drama exercises, improvisations, group games, constructions and board games, we will try to practice new skills and structure our own method of teaching literacy.
