Part 1 October 10 to December 31, 2022.

On the occasion of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the first performance of melodrama at Apollo and taking into account the preferences of the audience, as recorded in the three productions of the theatre in the period 2021-2022, the Artistic Director of the D.P.E.T.E. Loukas Thanos proposed a repertoire with an anniversary character, emphasizing Lyric Theatre as well as the classics of world drama.

¨150 years of Apollo¨ – gala of the Lyric Stage

10 October2022 marks the 150th anniversary of the first performance of Verdi’s opera ¨Dance of the Masked Men¨ at the Apollon Municipal Theatre.

The Patras Municipal Theatre celebrates this important anniversary, in collaboration with the Lyriki Skhini, by presenting a gala, with excerpts from lyrical songs, which corresponds to the character of our Municipal Theatre and the first opera performance.

Mozart

The Children’s Stage will present Mozart, directed and choreographed by Artistic Director Loukas Thanos. It is a spectacular ballet with actors, dancers, imaginative sets and costumes and, above all, with the musical highlights of the genius composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, but also with highlights from the turbulent life of the great composer.

Harold Pinter-The Betrayal

Harold Pinter records the story of a love triangle in The Betrayal, setting up an ingenious game of time for his characters.

The viewer is confronted with the game of relationships, hidden agendas, deliberate concealments, secrets and lies.

¨Poetry and Music¨

In the framework of the D.P.E.T.E. Three music and theatre events will take place in the section of the Patras P.E.T.P.E. entitled “Poetry and Music”:

1.The play by Christos Papageorgiou Stylistic variations on the song “Sto perigiali to krypto” by Mikis Theodorakis for solo piano.

2.The stage monologue of our great poet Yannis Ritsos “The Moonlight Sonata”, with Olia Lazaridou combined with an original musical composition by the conductor Thodoris Lebesis, performed by the chamber orchestra under the direction of Lefteris Govanidis

3.Performance-concert accompanied by music and poetry, entitled: “ICONS”

A new cycle of songs by Giorgos Kouroupos entitled “Ten images and a girl” is presented for the first time, based on poems by: Dionysios Solomos, Konstantinos Cavafy, Giorgos Seferis, Yannis Ritsos, Nikos Engonopoulos, Odysseus Elytis, Yannis Varveris, Christoforos Liontakis, Michalis Ganas, Ioulita Iliopoulou, and Leonidas Kakaroglou give through the colors and the various ways of music unique images of nature and the soul. Artistic Director Loukas Thanos discusses with the Director of the Athens State Orchestra Loukas Karytinos, about a co-production on the occasion of the trilogy of events for the 150th anniversary of the Apollo Theatre, and with the Director of the ERT Music Ensembles Michalis Dimitrakakos, about three co-productions in the context of the trilogy of events for the 150th anniversary of the Apollo Theatre.
