Athan Dapis’ solo exhibition Somewhere between at the Lola Nikolaou Gallery from November 6 to 29, 2025, will feature a series of paintings of various dimensions from the artist’s most recent work.

As art historian Thalia Stefanidou points out in her theoretical text accompanying the exhibition: […the works in Athan Dapis’s Somewhere between section clearly dictate his visual writing style, a process of spatial and temporal experience, as a result of subtle, almost secret impressions. It is an almost unruly manner of pictorial allusions and confessions that arise from various references to lived experience, even the most recent. A testimony that oscillates between the recording of decisive signs and symbols and an underlying stylistic poetics, which has a subversive dynamic, similar to what we call ‘instinctive pre-handiness’ and which is capable of conveying the core of artistic truth. In his small-scale, purely abstract works, the dense materiality of the dark palette highlights a psychological perception of dreams and oceanic feelings. ]
