In the welcoming space of the building of Amalias 36, Nikolas Klouvatos will hold his new solo exhibition on the theme: “Narration of an invisible time“.
The opening will take place on Thursday 13 March at 19:00. The exhibition includes a series of new paintings and some sculptures created by the artist in recent years. This time Nikolas Klouvatos turns his attention to the liquid element, which fascinates him and approaches it through different perspectives.
Art historian and AICA member Louisa Karapidaki, who is curating the exhibition, says: “Nikolas Klouvatos elaborates his seascapes pictorially from the same always the same perspective and each work depicts a given moment, at different times of the day or night and at different seasons of the year. He uses acrylic paints and devises a variety of mixed techniques to form the shifting volumes and perpetual movement of the liquid element. He chooses to form water environments with a characteristically personal and highly expressionistic abstract figuration. His compositions, awash with harmonious tonal shades or boldly explosive contrasting tones, emit an intense energy and evoke images of the sea… He is concerned with the rendering of the surrounding naturalistic atmosphere and the plasticity of pictorial representation, which is why he concentrates exclusively on describing the diffuse light in the celestial space and on the water surface…“.
