The art gallery ekfrasi- yanna grammatopoulou presents the first solo exhibition of the young artist Pavlos Karamaroudis entitled Distance Matter (or Mater).

The series of works by Pavlos Karamaroudis draws inspiration from a canopy in the National Garden of Athens, transforming the architecture of light and shadow into an emotionally charged narrative. “Sometimes with tenderness and love, sometimes with fear, release, anger”, as the artist says, his works capture the complexity of the human soul through colour and lines.

An unexpected connection with the past, through a photograph of his mother in the same spot where he paints, gives the works an almost metaphysical dimension. “Distance-proximity, presence-absence, life, loss, love” are the concepts that emerge through his compositions, as art historian Yannis Bolis says.

Pavlos Karamaroudis defends the renewed possibilities of painting “with power, sensitivity and truth”, observes Yannis Bolis, creating a world where representation and abstraction find a common place through light, colour and emotional intensity.
