The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki presents the site-specific performance “As a Shadow As a Dream” in collaboration with the director and choreographer Apostolia Papadamaki, creator of the Anamnesis method.
Queen Thessaloniki, a “shadow” from the past, comes back to the present through a walking performance, bringing to life the hidden stories of the museum’s treasures.
The site-specific performance designed around the person of the Queen of Thessaloniki, the first of its kind to be presented in a Greek museum, aims to highlight her historical and mythological status, presenting her as a symbol of the timeless female struggles and the tragic figures who were confronted with power, violence and exclusion. Queen Thessaloniki is a figure that connects historical Macedonia with contemporary social challenges, highlighting issues related to patriarchy, the place of women in society and their struggle for equality and justice.
The performance will take place in the framework of the 59th Dimitria Festival.
Telephone booking is essential, as attendance will be limited to a limited number of spectators. Viewers are required to pay the price of the Museum admission ticket, as applicable, as the performance will take place within the exhibition space. Tickets: full €8, reduced €4, free for young people up to 25 years of age and holders of a free entry card and ICOM.
Audience members are asked not to carry heavy personal items as the performance is walk-through and experiential.
