The Municipality of Thessaloniki is going to create five dog parks, which will offer a valuable space for daily walks, exercise and relaxation for the lovable four-legged friends, in key points of the city. The program concerning the creation of a network of dog parks in the neighborhoods is being promoted by the Directorate of Greenery and Environment Management of the Municipality of Thessaloniki.

Specifically, with funding from the “Philodimos II” program, the supply of pet equipment will be made, which will be placed in five already demarcated public areas of the city.

In the areas that will be designed as dog parks, the loveable four-legged friends will have the opportunity to play freely, relax and exercise. The dog parks will function simultaneously as socialization and training areas, meeting all the specifications of a standard public park.

According to the planning of the competent municipal services, two dog parks are to be created in the same number of places in Polykleitos Regou park, while an additional three areas for the friendly four-legged friends will be created in the Ancient Agora square, in the New Switzerland park and in the park in the Pasha Gardens .

Each dog park will have fencing and double entry/exit doors. This will be followed by the installation of exercise equipment, which includes exercise beams, learning and jumping tables, a high exercise ramp, a moving balance ramp, flexibility training columns, exercise ramps and jump rings. The number and type of instruments varies from park to park, depending on its size. The intervention will be completed with the installation of urban equipment (seats, waste baskets, watering cans, etc.).
