The shooting of Romain Gavras’ new film Sacrifice was successfully completed, a large part of which took place at the premises of the Athens Epidaurus Festival and specifically at Pireos 260. This is the first English-language film by the Greek-born French director, based on a script he wrote together with the playwright Will Arbery.
The film Sacrifice is a co-production between Greece and the United Kingdom and was produced in collaboration with the Athens Epidaurus Festival, the Onassis Cinema Foundation and other international organizations. It was filmed in Bulgaria and Greece (Drama, Athens, Lavrio, Santorini). The filming in Greece took place in the framework of attracting foreign investment in the film, audiovisual and wider cultural sector of the Hellenic Centre for Cinema, Audiovisual Media and Creation (EKKOMED).
The choice of Pireos 260 is of particular importance, as this space has become a landmark of contemporary culture due to the importance of the role it has played over the last 20 years as a pillar of pioneering artistic activity of the Athens Epidaurus Festival.
