The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, in collaboration with the Educational/Development Guide, the AMKE “Idifono” (members of the Council of Europe’s Iter Vitis Cultural Route) and the Wines of Crete Network, with the support of the Region of Crete, present the musical work of Sakis Papadimitriou – Vasilis Lekkas “of WINE and LOVE.”

The concert will take place on Friday, October 31, at 7:30 p.m., in the courtyard of the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, to present the Museum’s award at the 9th Iter Vitis Awards, with the award “Best Experience in Archaeology.”

The award was given to the Museum for its three years of events showcasing the fascinating history of vine cultivation and use in antiquity, as well as the value of grapes, raisins, and especially Cretan wine throughout the ages.

The work of composer Sakis Papadimitriou, performed by Vasilis Lekkas, aims to be a point of reference for wine culture, combining erotic and ancient lyric poetry. The musical composition is inspired by Anacreon and Cavafy, as well as Kazantzakis and Ritsos, to highlight the symbols of wine, love, and Dionysus.
