An exciting four-day event during which the Greek audiovisual ecosystem came into contact with its international counterpart, took place from the 1st to the 4th of October in Athens. The Athens Film Office of the Municipality of Athens (AFO), which operates under the umbrella of the Athens Development Authority, successfully organized for the third consecutive year “The Owl“, the international script development workshop for TV series and feature films with the participation of renowned screenwriters from Greece and abroad.

In the context of the workshop, an open call was made this year to screenwriters who already have experience in television or feature films to submit script proposals with the prospect of being shot in Athens or in another part of Greece.

At the same time, “The Owl Industry Days” was held for the first time (October 3-4) with presentations, speeches and panels on Greek fiction productions. The event, held at the St. George Lycabettus Lifestyle Hotel, hosted more than 200 B2B meetings between Greek audiovisual industry professionals and representatives of Greek and international studios, as well as production companies in order to develop beneficial partnerships.

Also, in cooperation with the Athens Film Office, in the framework of the 30th Athens International Film Festival, the internationally renowned Intimacy Coordinator, Elle McAlpine with top collaborations in the field of cinema and television (“Poor Things“, “One Day“, “Baby Reindeer“) presented a very interesting workshop on intimacy coordination. The discussion was welcomed – among others – by AFO director Stathis Kalogeropoulos.

In a statement, the CEO of Athens Development Company S.A., Ioannis Georgizas, said:

“We are proud that we were able to organize and host in Athens such a successful event of international scope. Producers and screenwriters from all over the world met in our city in the framework of “The Owl” workshop, thus strengthening the audiovisual industry of our country. The highlight of the successful event was the competition in which film and television professionals were awarded prizes. The Municipality of Athens, through the Athens Development Authority and the Athens Film Office, “embraces” and supports audiovisual productions, facilitating producers in all procedural matters, so that they can work unhindered in their work. A big thumbs up to all the contributors!”
