The Greek text describes a working meeting held between the Greek Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoni, and the Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan, at the National Gallery – Alexandros Soutzos Museum during Andreasyan’s three-day official visit to Athens.

During the meeting, they confirmed the excellent level of bilateral cultural relations between Greece and Armenia and laid the foundation for further strengthening and deepening those ties through the signing of four important Cooperation Agreements.

Specifically, the four signed agreements cover a broad range of cultural cooperation including:

  • A Memorandum of Cooperation for promoting collaboration across the cultural sector,

  • A Bilateral Agreement to prevent the illegal trafficking of cultural goods,

  • A Memorandum of Cooperation between the Greek Film Centre of Audiovisual Media and Creativity (EKOME) and the Armenian Film Foundation,

  • A Memorandum of Cooperation between the Thessaloniki Concert Hall and the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra.

These agreements aim to create a stable framework for exchanges, synergies, and joint activities in cultural heritage and contemporary culture.

The meeting also emphasized the shared effort against illegal cultural goods trafficking and the strengthening of cooperation between museums and conservation services of both countries. Proposals for joint archaeological exhibitions, craft collaborations, and promotion of intangible cultural heritage through joint initiatives and education were discussed.

Minister Mendoni thanked Armenia for its longstanding support in international fora such as UNESCO and reiterated Greece’s readiness to support Armenian initiatives.

The meeting ended warmly, confirming the deep historical and cultural affinity between the two peoples. Following the meeting, the ministers attended a concert at the Athens Odeon featuring Baroque and Armenian music performed by the ancient music ensemble Tagharan
