On Friday, March 07, 2025, at 19.00, the solo exhibition of Natassa Sarri’s paintings entitled “Αλέα/Alea” will be presented at the Marginalia Art Gallery in Nicosia. The exhibition will run until 29 March 2025.
It is a series of works in various dimensions, depicting symbolically and allegorically, selected aspects of the flora and fauna of nature, through which we are reminded, consciously or unconsciously, of the lawfulness, balance and moderation that characterize it. In a sense, the encounter with nature, through the works in this section, and the remembrance of its power that emerges in us when we behold its powerful symbols, mobilizes the connection with subtle but powerful aspects of the Self.
Art Historian & Theorist Athina Schina, states: ” Natassa Sarri’s meditations are not only centered around laws and phenomena, but on their morphed reflections that relate to a deeper layer of functions of nature with life and of the past with the present. Through the organicity of flora and fauna, also through symbols and allegories that express our communicative everyday needs or feelings and desires, the “Alea” of her works in this section is presented as a path of life and contemplation, but also as a way of crossing between “self” and nature, between also everyday life, myth and imagination”.
Elsewhere, Athina Schina stresses: “The obvious becomes unseen in Natassa Sarri’s paintings. The same, however, applies in reverse. The void is full of unseen or pregnant life and at the same time the fullness (horror vacui) concerns infinite systems of rhythms and permutations, harmonies and arrays, simulations and juxtapositions in a matter that becomes energy and ultimately a form or pattern that encloses the ‘becoming’ of a constant transformation. This is, moreover, the reason why in her paintings (with mixed materials) the exercise of introspection, discipline, devotion, and the rhythmic development of the successive patterns that the painter forms, where one intrudes on the other, encompasses it, exhausts it, then modifies and recharges it, regenerates it, reshapes and redefines it, is of primary importance.”
Οpening days and hours: Tuesday through Friday 0:00 – 13.00 & 17:00 – 20:00, Saturday 10:30 – 13:00.
