The 42 miles of the first race of the Ionian Rally proved to be demanding and exhausting, as the circumnavigation of Lefkada was affected by a low barometric pressure system that brought rain to parts of the mainland and calm winds, turning an interesting race into one for the few. Although the race started with a westerly wind that suggested that the boats would take the lead after Cape Kyra, the wind was affected by instability in direction and intensity, with the result that only 21 boats managed to finish out of the 44 that ultimately started , with some crossing the finish line in the morning of August 6.

In the first category, first place went to Bidourik (Patras Sailing Club), second place to Maltese Falcon (Lithuania), and third place to Cocobill II (Preveza Nautical Club).

In the second category, Okyroi (NOLE) took first place, Tolmi (Kalamata Yacht Club) took second place, and Silver Age (NOLE) took third place.

And in the third category, first place went to Glafki (Corfu Sailing Club), second place to Alitaki (SEANATK), and third place to Pegasus (Patras Sailing Club).
