Synopsis: There is a man in our society who is fed up with the state of things and can’t take it anymore. He decides to lock himself up in prison as a voluntary life prisoner to prove that it’s better inside than outside. But there is another man who cannot stand being imprisoned for even a second and attempts to escape. But in order to get out, he must first prove why he deserves his freedom.

The workshop addresses issues of mental resilience, self-care, work-life balance, and female creativity as a force for social cohesion and cultural development.

Darkplay Theatre (Athens) and the Petrosophy International Cultural Center (Agii Theodoroi) invite adults and young people from Agii Theodoroi and the surrounding areas to participate in a creative theater workshop inspired by local mythology and the stories of Phaea, Theseus, and Cromus.

What is it?

A series of 2–3 meetings that will:

  • Explore myth through movement and storytelling
  • Present interactive theater and physical expression techniques
  • Develop stage presence and group creation
  • Lay the foundations for a new site-specific performance at Petrosophy (Agii Theodoroi)
  • No previous experience required

“Black Bee…”, Theodoros Marangos, 2012, 76′

Synopsis: In the 1st century AD, an ancient Greek philosopher wrote a letter to Theodorakis… the modern Greek. When Theodorakis learns of this, he travels to Italy, where the letter was found during excavations along with 2,000 other ancient Greek texts, to retrieve it. When he arrives, he is surprised to find that others who seek historical truths are also interested in his letter. However, some others try to make it disappear because they fear it may reveal religious secrets. Dimitrakis, who has psychological problems, is also interested in his letter. He is searching his past to find out what he was before he turned into a sheep.

World Poetry Day
Workshop “Aesthetics and Art – Body, Expression, and Culture”

An interdisciplinary approach to the relationship between aesthetics, art, and human expression, with the participation of scientists, doctors, aesthetic professionals, and artists. The event is accompanied by literary interventions and readings from the Odyssey, with a view to creating a permanent cycle of literary study.

Synopsis: The script is based on real events from a dark period in history, during which the subjugated Greek nation endured unimaginable trials! The aim is to present the life of Diakos, selecting key moments from his extraordinary life and highlighting many aspects of his character and soul! Like all heroes, the martyr Diakos died as a martyr—and rightfully holds the most enviable place in the hearts of the Greeks!

“The Moon’s Fugitive,” Theodoros Marangos, 1994, 115 min.

Synopsis: Adriana transforms the beautiful fairy into an ugly old woman so that her son Billis will not see her and be seduced. The fairy’s beloved prince, Achilles, who is far away, rides his horse and rushes to meet her and kiss her before the moon disappears into the black shadow. But as the news spreads, all the old women in the world rush to get his first kiss, which will make them young and beautiful again. When Achilles descends into the bottom of the well to investigate a strange murder, he discovers that the frozen fingers of the corpse hold the story of his youth.
