The project for the restoration, enhancement and reuse of “Villa Schwartz” begins with the signing of the contract for the “Study, restoration and reuse of Villa Schwartz in Chalepa, Chania“.
The Mayor of Chania, Panagiotis Simandirakis signed the contract award with representatives of the contractor company, in the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Technical Services (T.S.), Michael Kalogridakis, the Deputy Mayor of Culture, John Giannakakis and executives of the Department of Technical Services of the Municipality.
Mr.Simandirakis said: “Today, the Municipality of Chania is taking a very important step towards the restoration and promotion of an important monument of the city. A building, which for decades remained abandoned, is now taking the path of restoration and reuse, so that in 12 months we have the results. The important thing for the Municipality of Chania is that in addition to the cost of the studies, the cost of the reconstruction has been secured. The aim is that this space can function as an additional cultural space that will host activities and initiatives and associations of the city to be able to further highlight the historicity of the area of Chalepa, followed by the Villa Pologiorgis “and concluded his statements stressed that “for the first time we give comprehensive and substantive answers to issues that have been pending for many years.”
The complex study of Villa Schwartz includes the architectural documentation, the investigation of the pathology and the structural and static restoration of the monument, its functional adaptation to new uses and the integration of the electromechanical installations necessary for its operation. It also includes the study of the furnishing and equipment of the site and the landscaping of the surrounding area.
